Officers investigating a collision on the M3 near Eastleigh have charged a man. Police were called at 9.36pm on Sunday 14 January to reports of an overturned lorry on the southbound carriageway at junction 12.

The lorry had overturned between the off slip road and the on slip road for the junction.

There were no serious injuries but the southbound carriageway of the M3 at Junction 12 remained closed overnight and into rush hour the following morning to allow for repairs to take place to a barrier.

Paul Turton, from Quebec Road, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, has been charged with driving without due care and attention, and failing to provide a specimen.

He has been remanded to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning
