Hampshire police are appealing for information after a woman was injured during a burglary in West Wellow.
The burglary took place sometime between 4am and 5am today (Friday 23 June) at an address off Salisbury Road.
The victim, a 39-year-old woman, confronted two unknown men who she found on her property.
One of the men hit her on the head with a crowbar-type implement, knocking her unconsciousness.
The men ran away after being confronted by the victim’s partner. The two men drove away in a burgundy 4x4-type vehicle.
The woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to a fractured skull and a cut to the head.
The two men are described as white, aged in their 20s and both wore hooded tops. One of the men was described as being around 6ft tall, and the other as of skinny build.
Detective Sergeant Will Whale said: “This was a disturbing assault in which a lady sustained a serious injury.
“We have started an investigation and are following lines of enquiry, but we would like to hear from anybody who was awake at this time and noticed anything suspicious.
“Do you remember seeing a burgundy 4x4-type vehicle in West Wellow at around this time? If so, get in touch.
“We believe this car has been used in a series of burglaries in the surrounding area.”
