Age Concern Hampshire have appointed its first Village Agent for Wellow.
The Village Agent Scheme has been grant funded by Hampshire County Council since 2012 as part of a wider programme to support people in rural areas connect with their communities. They provide information and support to enable older people to maintain their independence and maximise their safety, enabling them to enjoy their later years in their own homes and communities.
Meic Sullivan-Gould, a long term local resident, has become the first Village Agent for Wellow.
Meic is a solicitor who is retiring from a distinguised career serving local authorities across the country, including Winchester, Basingstoke & Deane and the New Forest National Park Authority.
He has previously been a Scout Leader in Wellow as well as being serving on the Wellow Village Hall and Wellow Twinning Association management committees.
Meic said: “I’m looking forward to loving my later life in Wellow,
“I have a lot to learn about the services and support that are available so I will be able to learn from others who are in the same position as me and make that information well known to older people in the parish.”
