Owtons Butchers To Close At Kimbridge

Romsey News | Owtons Butchers To Close At KimbridgeOwtons Butchers have confirmed that their Kimbridge store will close for good this weekend.

The Owton family have been farming on Chalcroft Farm for over 400 years and in 1976 Rob and Gill Owton founded Owtons Traditional Family Butchers and established themselves as one of the premier wholesale butchers and farm shop proprietors in the country.

Owton Butchers have stores in Andover, West End, Bordon and Titchfield. The store in Kimbridge was relocated from Romsey town centre but since the move, they have struggled in the Kimbridge location with customers reticent to make the trip out of town.

The lack of footfall was greatly impacted with the closure of neighbouring business, Annie's Kitchen and Tea Rooms which went into liquidation in December.

Despite the owners best efforts to promote the store, the location has ended up being their downfall and business will cease at Kimbridge at close of play on Sunday, 21st January.

They will continue to supply local pubs, including the Cromwell Arms and the owners say their other stores are all going strong.
